GPA vote against Super 8 plans

Kearns says the Premier's achievements in 2016 don’t “seem to have counted for much after the board vote in favour of Padraic Duffy's plans on Monday night adding it will make it very difficult for any team like Tipp to repeat what they did last year.

His comments come as the The Gaelic Players Association have voted against backing the ‘Super-8' structure.

The proposal – which will go before congress this weekend – would see the quarter-finals replaced by a round robin series.

Members voted 70/30 against the motion.

Former All Ireland winner with Derry and well known analyst Joe Brolly says should the re-structure pass through congress it will create an imbalance.
