Clonmel Racing Review

Racing has concluded for the day in Clonmel at today's meeting in Powerstown Park.

The last of the day, the 5.25 Suir Handicap Hurdle, was won by the favourite Fiery Oscar at 5/2.

The 4.55 Kilsheelan Beginners Chase was won by the 7/1 shot Tipped Up Harry ahead of the 20/1 outsider Caddy Man.

Paul Townend rode his 2nd winner of the day after taking Viaduct Joey to victory in the 4.25 Bishops Aukland Novice Handicap chase, after coming in at 8/1 ahead of the 11/2 shot Mazuri Cowboy.

The 3.55 Powerstown Chase was taken by the 2/1 shot Canaly on a photo finish over Belly Brooke at 5/1.

Earlier the 3.25 Demense Maiden Hurdle was won by the 6/4 favourite Blazing Sonnet who just beat Angeldas Money to the finish line with Hunting Party in 3rd.

The shock of the day unquestionably came from the Munster Hurdle where Rathlin made a stunning return to form to the win at 16/1 ahead of the heavily backed Unika la Reconce, who went in the 4/6 favourite.

And in the opening Maiden Hurdle Carhue came home the winner at 6/1 with Paul Townend on boaard, ahead of the Willie Mullins trained Security Breach at 5/1, and the 3/1 outsider Vergalda.
