The tap water is safe to drink again for thousands of homes and businesses in the Newport area as well as for families on the Glenary supply in Clonmel.
Uisce Éireann has lifted the two Boil Water Notices imposed on the same day just before the school midterms.
8,000 households and businesses in the Newport, Ballina, Birdhill, Ballinahinch, and Killoscully areas can now return to using their water as normal.
During Storm Boelo the quality of water coming into the treatment plant from the Mulkear River saw high levels of debris, colour and turbidity which meant that Uisce Éireann had to impose the Boil Water Notice on the 25th of October.
The company says it’s continuing work on upgrading the filtration system and electronic controls at the plant
But they are warning the Newport supply remains vulnerable to further Boil Water Notices over the coming months.
The Utility also issued a Boil Water Notice for the Glenary Supply on the same day after the storm caused problems with deteriorating raw water quality there too.
Both notices have now been lifted.
