It left homes, farms and businesses served by the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant without a supply for much of the day.
Uisce Éireann has advised that now the problem has been fixed it can typically take two to three hours for the network to recharge and for normal water supply to fully return.
This may take longer for customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
