A man accused of raping a woman at a house in Tipperary denied
during garda interviews that he went into town that day to pick up a
woman for “sexual purposes.”
The woman gave evidence that she understood that she was going
with the man for a cleaning job at the house.
The man admitted having sex with the then 23-year-old at the house
but told gardai it was consensual and that the woman had not shown any fear.
The 47-year-old man, who can not be identified for legal reasons, has pled not
guilty at the Central Criminal Court to raping the woman at the
house on July 5, 2010.
The man has been found not guilty by direction of the trial judge
Mr Justice Barry White on a second charge of sexual assault.
