Tipperary has been identified as a balckspot for cable theft by Eircom.

The company says nationwide, cable theft has cost them a quarter
of a million euro so far this year.

Criminals gangs target the wire for its valuable copper content.

Tipperary has been identified as a black spot for theft, aswell
as Laois, Offaly, Kilkenny, Carlow and Cavan.

The gangs generally operate in remote rural areas, in order
to avoid detection.
