Drivers caught using their mobile phones could face harsher sanctions
under a review of the penalty points system.
The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications
met with representatives from the AA, the Road Safety Authority and the
Irish Insurance Federation today to discuss the recent report.
Areas up for consideration are the increase in the number of points for
speeding, failure to use seatbealt in the front seat and using a mobile phone.
