Tipp man pleads guilty to rape

A Tipperary man has pleaded guilty to the rape and sexual abuse
of his young neighbour, but has denied over 50 other charges
of offences against her.

The 78 year old pled Not Guilty to 58 charges this morning, when
his trial began,but 2 hours later, stated he would be pleading guilty
to 2 charges of assault and one of rape.

The man abused the girl from the age of nine and raped her on a number
of occasions when she was 13.

The man, who has not been named, has now been remanded in custody,
for sentencing in July.
