The EU has decided to dismantle sugar quotas, which could
lead to a revival of the industry here in Ireland.

North Tipp Deputy Noel Coonan has welcomed the
decision to dismantle sugar quotas which could lead to the return
of sugar production to Ireland by 2017.
The local Fine Gael TD was speaking after European Union
negotiators agreed to dismantle the bloc's system of sugar
production quotas as part of wider reforms to the EU's
common agricultural policy.
