Conor Skehan took issue with the Sunday World review of the Wytchway Inn
in Thurles,  last October.

The headline of the review said “The best way to appreciate this grub
is with a few pints inside you”.

Skehan’s solicitors complained that the headline might lead readers to
believe that the restaurant food could only be eaten when customers
were under the influence of alcohol.

They also complained that the article demeaned their client and
undermined his right to his good name.

The newspaper said the review was a subjective, honest and
professional critique based on what happened on the day, and was
fair to the restaurant.

The ombudsman said he could not decide whether the review
was truthful and accurate because the  experience of the critic cannot
be replicated.
