There are claims that cuts in Hospital catering could be impacting
on over crowding.

Figures compiled by the Irish Examiner show that 3  in 4 public
hospitals spend less on patient food than the price of a happy meal.

Nenagh General spends 2 euro 20 per meal on average,
which is in line with the national average.
South Tipp General did not provide figures for the report.

Catering costs have been further slashed as hospitals struggle
to save money, but leading nutrionists have warned that this short
term measure will have long term consequences.

Food costs for childrens hospitals are slightly higher, at an
average of 5 euro.
