There has been a marked decrease in reported crime in the
Tipperary Garda Division since 2007.
That's according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.
These figures show that since the recession began, there was an
average fall of 43% in reported crime in the county.
The most dramatic fall was in the Thurles district where reported
crime dropped by 84.9%.
Meanwhile, there were only three crimes reported in Terryglass with
no recorded crime in Ballinderry which has now been closed as part
of a plan by Justice Minister Alan Shatter to shut 39 stations as a
cost saving measure.
There were only 26 crimes per thousand of population in the Tipperary
Garda Division last year, which was one of the lowest figures reported
in the entire country.
