The 32-year-old father-of-one, was stabbed as he slept in a bed at Kiltalown Way.

Detective Garda David Jennings objected to bail on a number of grounds including the seriousness of the charge and the weight of evidence against the accused.

But following a short break to consider the matter Judge Anthony Halpin decided to grant bail with 13 conditions attached.

They include that he stay with his brother until he can return to his home, that he surrender his passport, abide by a curfew and lodge ¬ 1k euro of his own money as well as 3,500 in two separate independent sureties.
