The ten employees will finish work on Friday as their contracts have not been renewed.

The news was criticised by Independent TD, Michael Lowry who believes the job losses will have a serious impact on the Garda Vetting Unit.

“In recent months from a waiting time of 16 weeks to 2009 levels of just 5 weeks. This work ethic should be treasured yet these employees are being pushed aside as the backlog has now been brought under control.”
