A man in his 30s has been arrested after he held up a chemist in
Tipperary this morning – and held four workers hostage.

It happened in Ladyswell street in Cashel this morning.

The man was eventually caught – after Gardai shot him with a taser gun.

The alarm was raised when the man entered the pharmacy in
Ladyswell at around a quarter past 10 this morning.

He threatened four staff members and held them hostage –
using an imitation gun.

Gardai and officers from the Regional Support Unit were called
to the scene – along with trained negotiators.

And some two hours later – at around twenty past 12, the man was
shot with a taser gun by a member of the RSU – after he went to the
door of the pharmacy.

He was arrested and taken to Cahir Garda Station.

None of the workers were injured – and the man is expected to
appear in court later today.
