The Minister for Education says proposals to change the student grant
application process for farmers and the self-employed are an attempt
to make the system fairer.
Ruairí Quinn has sent a report to all government departments last week
– which contains proposals on tightening up the rules on means testing.
Farmers and the self-employed may have to furnish up to five years
of accounts – to ensure complete transparency.
Minister Quinn says the issue will be discussed by Cabinet members
next week:
