The Independent TD topped the polls for the seventh time in his career, this time in the Tipperary North constituency.

Much of the attention nationally now turns to the formation of a government.

Speaking to Tipp FM, Michael Lowry says he will be meeting with other Independents today.

“There’s what they call technical groups to be formed, Technical groups allow you to have speaking times in the dail, and allow you to bring forward bills and what have you.”

“I was part of a very successful group the last time, the regional independent group”

“So we will reform that group, probably group of eight or nine. And that’s our first priority.”

“And after that, then it’s a case of seeing how things develop.”
