30 Temporary staff attached to the roads section of North Tipp
County Council have been let go.

That decision has been criticised by a local Councillor, who
fears that road programmes could suffer as a result.

North Tipp Councillor John Carroll says that 30 temporary staff at the Council offices

In Nenagh, have been issued with notices of Termination, effective from September.

The staff are all working in the Roads section of the Council.

Councillor Carroll has expressed concern that these lay offs will have a direct

Impact on the Roads programme for North Tipp.

He fears that the programme will not now be completed by the end of September

As scheduled, as the Department will have to deal with a severe shortage of staff.

The Councillor speculates that these cuts are the result of a poor take up

In the household charge, and says its unfair to punish Councils, for

The Governments own poor planning.
