A fundraising campaign for a Tipperary man struck down with a rare neurological disorder has received huge support.
Declan O’Halloran is a married father of two from Newcastle – the 39 year old has been diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy.
He and his wife Joanne were living in Australia but have since returned to Tipp.
A Go Fund me page went live last Sunday with a target of €150,000 to complete their home and ensure that it is specially adapted to meet Declan’s future medical needs.
In just a matter of days almost €75,000 has been donated.
On Tipp Today earlier Joanne said the response has been phenomenal.
“You’ve no idea how much it means to us.
“Everybody in my home town in Midleton in Cork, Tipperary, Newcastle, all our friends in Australia – I just can’t get over how much support we’ve gotten. Especially our close friends and family in Newcastle. I mean they could see we were struggling and they stepped in when we needed it. We didn’t have to ask.”
