The Minister for Education has promised to review the situation
at Emly National school.

The matter was raised in the Dail yesterday after plans to build
an extension at the school were thrown in to doubt.

The site is classified as a protected structure and so the work has to comply
with local and national guidelines in order to get planning permission
leading to considerable extra expense.

The Minister for Health, responding to the issue, said the school
had sought extra space.

But Tom Hayes said that was incorrect and has today said he is
clarifying the matter with the Education Minister.
