The Constituency Commission is proposing a large part of North
Tipperary be handed over to the Offaly constituency.

A report released today recommends that instead of the current
system of two 3-seat constituencies that the county should have
one 5 seater.

This move had been widely anticipated – however what was not
expected was the annexing of Lower Ormond and its population
of almost 11,000.

Local Councillor Michael O'Meara is far from happy with this,
claiming that the area will suffer as a result.
