Rory McIlroy leads the Irish challenge at this week’s US Open, which gets underway today.

The world number three part of a star-studded group with Masters champion Danny Willett and American Rickie Fowler for the opening two rounds at the notorious Oakmount country club in Pennsylvania.

Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell are also part of the field this week, but Padraig Harrington narrowly missed-out on qualification while Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke withdrew from the field – citing a lack of form.
