Tributes pour in following death of Derry City skipper

President Michael D Higgins and FAI Chief Executive John Delaney are among those who have paid tribute to the 27-year-old who passed away suddenly yesterday.

The defender had netted twice for Derry this season to help them on their way to four straight league victories.

Derry's game against Limerick tomorrow night has been postponed, and the FAI have confirmed McBride will be remembered at Friday's World Cup qualifier between Ireland and Wales.

Derry chairman Philip O'Doherty told BBC Radio Foyle about McBride's personality on and off the field.
