Carrick on Suir’s Sam Bennett finished 8th in the Ride London – Surrey Classic yesterday.
The race was won by Norway’ Alexander Kristoff.

Afterwards Bennett – who will represent Ireland in the European Championships in Denmark this week – admitted a six week break from racing had dulled his sprint.
Another Carrick rider – Michael O’Loughlin – will be on the Under 23 team at the European Championships which run from Wednesday to Sunday.
