With ten of the side that lined out in last years All Ireland semi-final, Limerick were 12 points to 6 up at half time with Tipp managing just a single point from play.
Andrew Ryan and Paul Coffey contributed 1-2 apiece to Tipp's tally while Shane Hennessy put over 5 points with 2 from Tommy Nolan.
Limerick will now meet Cork in the semi-final while Tipp face a semi-final play off against Clare or Kerry.
