Carl Frampton’s comeback fight has been dramatically called off.
Former double-weight World champion Frampton was due to face Andres Gutierrez in his native Belfast tonight but the Mexican fell in the shower on the eve of the bout.
Gutierrez suffered injuries to his teeth and chin and will not be cleared to box.
30-year-old Frampton had missed weight by one-pound yesterday – before his opponent’s fall.
Meanwhile, Katie Taylor makes her US debut in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
The Bray fighter takes on Jasmine Clarkson in New York on the undercard of Adrien Broner versus Mickey Garcia at the Barclay’s Arena.
Taylor is expected to make it six wins from six as a professional ahead of a world title fight in Ireland later this year.
She says it’s a chance to build profile state-side.
