Sars take first step in defending county title

In the County Senior Hurling Championship Thurles Sarsfields took the first step in defending their county title.

They beat beat Carrick Swans 5-32 to 7 points.

Mikey O Brien hit 3 goals and John Maher and Aiden McCormack also raised green flags.

Sars coach Paddy McCormack says it was a team performance.

In the other senior hurling games on Saturday:

Drom & Inch beat Portroe – 3-15 to 10 points
Newport beat Ballingarry – 3-14 to 11 points
J.K. Brackens beat Borrisokane 18 points to 9
and Kiladangan beat Borris-Ileigh – 1-20 to 1-13
