Both Nenagh Ormond and Cashel have the biggest games in their respective club’s history today.
Both teams are in AIL playoff finals this afternoon, looking to earn promotion to a new division.
For Nenagh Ormond, they welcome UCC to New Ormond Park, with the winner earning promotion to Division 1A of the AIL.
Nenagh Ormond Director of Rugby John Long is hoping for another big performance from this squad of players:
“When you think of what they have achieved over the last three years, it’s phenomenal.
“I think they are a team and a squad that’s going to be remembered for a long time for what they have done for Nenagh and how they have put the club on the map.
“The club is filled with hereos and legacies and this squad is really adding to that and the experience they have built up over the last couple of years is going to stand to them.
“It’s going to be very exciting to watch it and see how it pans out.”
Cashel meanwhile are in the Division 1B promotion/relegation final.
They travel to Trinity College to play Dublin University at 2.30pm, looking to earn promotion from Division 2A to Division 1B whilst therir opponents are aiming to avoid relegation from Division 1B.
Cashel RFC president Pat O’Donoghue says history is on the line today:
“It is the biggest game in the club’s history in my view.
“We have never played division one rugby before, we now have a chance.
“We have 80 minutes against Trinity and if we can be successful in that game, it’ll be the first time ever that a Cashel team will play division one rugby in the AIL.”
