Donnacha Ryan misses out on Lions selection

The Nenagh man may have narrowly missed out to Ulster second row Iain Henderson in the squad named for the summer tour to New Zealand.

There are three Munster players in Warren Gatland’s selection with Peter O’Mahoney and CJ Stander making the cut along with Conor Murray.

Keith Earls and Simon Zebo have also missed out along with Irish hopefuls like Gary Ringrose and Jamie Heaslip.

There are 11 Irishmen in total making the plane, Jared Payne , Robbie Henshaw , Johnny Sexton , Jack McGrath, Tadgh Furlong and Sean O’Brien are all down along with Rory Best – but Gatland’s stuck with Sam Warburton as captain.
