Ballydoyle jockey Seamie Heffernan is hopeful he might be the man aboard the winner that provides his boss Aidan O’Brien with a world-record 26th Group 1 winner in a single-season on Saturday afternoon.

45 year old Heffernan has been attached to the powerful county Tipperary training complex for the past 21 years.

He teams up with current Investec Derby joint-favourite The Pentagon, one of four runners trained by O’Brien in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.

Another top-level triumph will take O’Brien clear of the late American legend Bobby Frankel, who set the record back in 2003.
