However, South champions Killenaule's cuase wasn't helped by having Declan Fanning sent off in the first half.
In the following quarter-final at the same venue Nenagh Éire Óg proved that their earlier victory over Thurles Sarsfields was no fluke- as they ran out 1-15 to 2-11 winners over Drom & Inch.
