Kilruane MacDonaghs made it two wins from two in the county senior hurling championship.
The 2022 county champions were down 0-11 to 0-06 against Borrisileigh at half-time but a Niall O’Meara goal 8 seconds into the second half got them back into the game.
Eddie Ryan responded with a goal from a penalty a minute later before Kilruane slowly reeled in Borris before taking the lead for the first time after 58 minutes.
Free taker Willie Cleary would score a free from a difficult angle in additional time to win the game for Kilruane and their manager Tomás Williams says he was in no doubt it was going over.
“It goes back to character. Maybe, things didn’t go right for Willie [Cleary] on frees today.
“He was exceptional the last day but still there was a free in the far corner to put us a point up, the wrong side for a right-sided player, but we would back no one else to take that free but Willie.”
Elsewhere last night, Moneygall made it two from two in the intermediate championship with a 4-22 to 1-21 win over Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams.
