Tipperary overcome Waterford to notch up 1st league win

Tipperary’s senior hurlers got down to winning ways last night securing their first victory of the Allianz National Hurling League.

Michael Ryan’s men bounced back from last week’s loss to Clare by roundly beating Waterford 1-20 to 1-11 in Division One A in bitter conditions under lights at Semple Stadium.

Jason Forde clocked up 1-09 on the scoreboard with the remaining points from Ronan Maher, N McGrath, Shane Curran, John McGrath, Michael Breen and Brendan Maher.

Speaking to Tipp FM’s Stephen Gleeson after the full time whistle Manager Michael Ryan says they needed the win and after a slow start the lads fought hard for victory.

While Brendan Maher who clocked two points says while it mightn’t have been pretty hurling at times, they did up their game
