The reigning Harty Cup champions take on Galway’s Presentation College Athenry in the All-Ireland Senior A schools hurling final in Croke Park at 3pm.
Thurles are aiming for a second ever title following their success in 2009 whilst the Galway side are aiming for their maiden title.
Thurles CBS coach Stephen Maher says today’s game is the end of a journey that didn’t just start in September.
“Robbie Ryan, David Costigan, Keith Loughnane, the sixth years, they have been on a journey all the way to this point.
“This is the last time they will throw a CBS jersey over their back.
“It hasn’t started for them in September when we came in, it does start when you walk in the gates of the CBS in your first year.
“If you told them coming in in first year that the last game you’re going to play for the school you are going to play in Croke Park in an All-Ireland final, they’d take your hand off for it.
“It is great that is has culminated in this and hopefully all going well it will culminate in a good result for us as well.”
We’ll have live commentary of that game here on Tipp FM with thanks to The Granary Bar and Kitchen, Slievenamon Road, Thurles.
