Robbie Ryan is hoping to lead Thurles CBS back to glory as they pursue the Harty cup, a competition they last won in 2015.
In the last two years Cashel CS and Nenagh CBS have both won the title so it would make for a unique triple if Thurles CBS could ensure the cup stays in Tipperary for the third year running.
Their opponents are St. Flannan’s of Ennis who lead the roll of honour in the competition with 22 titles to date.
The teams met in the first round of the group stage of the competition before Christmas with a last-gasp Thurles equaliser ensuring a thrilling draw was the result at Cappamore.
This time around they are the last two teams standing and Holycross Ballycahill club member Robbie Ryan says that Thurles CBS are focused on the task at hand.
“I suppose we were a bit disappointed with our performance the first day but what could we do only regroup and went out against Tralee and had a good win. We face Templemore then in the preliminary quarter-final where we had a great win.
“We went up to Belfast then and had a great bonding trip and really learned about life up there – how lucky we really are to have hurling so easily down here.
“We faced Ard Scoil Rís then in the quarter final and had a good win in UL then last week we played De la Salle so just great to get over the line and into a final now.”
Throw-in on Saturday is at 1pm in Mallow – Tipp FM’s live coverage of the TÚS Harty Cup final comes in association with Denis O’Reilly at Premier Meats Thurles.
