Hotpoint Hayes’ departure a surprise to players – Cahill

The removal of John ‘Hotpoint’ Hayes from this post as kit-man for the Tipperary senior hurling team came as a surprise to the players, according to Michael Cahill.

The Thurles Sarsfields clubman has praised Hotpoint for his work behind the scenes for the Premier, where he’s volunteered since 1988.

Hayes was given the news that he was surplus to requirements by county board chairman Michael Bourke and vice-chairman John Devane, at a specially called meeting at Semple Stadium, almost 2 weeks ago.

Michael Cahill says players have to row in behind the decision of the management.
