Forde ban reduced to one game

Tipperary’s Jason Forde has had his two match ban for an altercation with Davy Fitzgerald halved.

The pair clashed during the National Hurling League semi-final when the Wexford manager came onto the pitch.

Davy Fitz was given an 8 week ban which was not appealed however the Tipp County board did appeal Forde’s ban.

The GAA’s Central Hearings Committee discussed the matter last night – they found the charge of “any type of assault on an opposing team official” was not proven.

They instead imposed a one match ban for the lesser offence of “contributing to a melee”.

As it stands the Silvermines clubman would miss the Munster semi-final against Cork – however Tipp do have the option of appealing the decision to the Central Appeals Committee.
