After 30 years of service to the Premier County it’s reported that hurling kit manager John “Hotpoint” Hayes has been told his services are no longer needed.

The 42 claims he was informed of the decision at a meeting with County Board chairman Michael Bourke and vice-chair John Devane at Semple Stadium on Sunday.

Hotpoint has been working with Tipp teams since 1988 on a voluntary basis – the players are understood to have been told about his departure early this week.

The move is said to be part of a backroom shake-up by Tipp manager Michael Ryan.
