Tweaks must be made to the scheduling of the Munster senior hurling championship.
That’s according to former Waterford manager Michael Ryan who’s been giving his thoughts on this week’s Extra-Time.
The Déise were beaten by Limerick last weekend, with that game coming just six days after their win over Clare.
Tipperary’s games also fall in quick succession with the Cork game just 7 days after the draw with Limerick whilst the final round tie with Waterford will fall just a week after the upcoming game with Clare.
Michael Ryan says there must be two weeks between all games.
“I have no doubt it has to be tweaked.
“As far as I’m concerned there should be two weeks between every game, if that means starting the Munster championship a week earlier and finishing a week later that’s fine.
“From Tipperary’s point of view, they also drew the short straw this year because first of all they have two games and then they have some time off and then they two games in rapid succession again.
“Claree definitely tired against Waterford in the second half of that game and it probably was a factor for Waterford as well (against Limerick) because worse again it was only a six day turnover but again the GAA are very slow to look at these things.
“There has to be two weeks in every game in Munster.”
