There was a heavy defeat for the Tipperary senior hurlers in the Munster championship yesterday.
The Premier were beaten by Cork in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on a final score line of 4-27 to 0-24.
Liam Cahill’s side were reduced to 14-men within 60 seconds of action when 19-year-old Darragh McCarthy received a straight red card for an off the ball offence involving Cork’s Seán O’Donoghue.
Tim O’Mahony, Patrick Horgan and Alan Connolly all scored goals for the Rebels in the opening 20 minutes of the game whilst Declan Dalton netted Cork’s fourth in the second half.
Speaking after the game, Liam Cahill says Tipp will pick themselves up and prepare for their next outing against Clare.
“Today was a difficult day from the outset – after the first 60 seconds I suppose. But a lot of areas to take from it from ourselves as well that I think if we can go after over the next two weeks will help us. And it’ll need to – we go to Ennis in two weeks’ time – ultimately knock out hurling for both sides.
“We cannot give too long I suppose dwelling on today – yes there’s lots of areas we’ll have to improve on but we can’t stay beating ourselves up now either. Effort was superb from the players – really gave it everything.”
