The sacrifices and hard work being done in Tipperary by both players and the backroom team alike is paying off according to Senior Hurling manager Liam Cahill.
Having reached the League final where they lost out to Cork the Premier County played out a draw with Limerick in their opening game of the Munster Championship in FBD Semple Stadium yesterday.
2-23 apiece the result with John McGrath contributing both Tipp goals.
Liam Cahill says following the hugely disappointing campaign last year the rebuilding process is showing results.
“This time last year when we left the same dressing room things were fairly poor – we were on the ground. I said it at the start of the League it’s a real time to be brave in Tipperary and we’ve got it from County Board right down through and its starting thank God to filter through onto the field.
“Having said that its only the first round of the Munster Championship and there’s nobody getting carried away. We can’t – we have to turn the page very quickly now for seven days’ time and try and close a 10 point deficit from the League from the League final which is going to be a massive task as well.”
All Ireland champions Clare opened their title defence with a draw at home to Cork.
They had to battle back from a 12 point half time deficit to rescue a point in Ennis where it finished Cork 2-24 to Clare’s 3-21.
