The resilience of the Thurles CBS hurlers has been praised by their manager.
The Tipp side won the All Ireland Senior A schools hurling final in Croke Park yesterday by a single point against Presentation College of Athenry.
CBS were 8 points down at one stage in the second half but showed tremendous spirit to take the Croke Cup on a final score of 24 points to 2-17.
Manager Niall Cahill spoke to Tipp FM Sport after the game.
“They’re just such an unbelievable group. There’s no panic with them ever – they just get on and they find a way, they always seem to find a way. Somebody steps up – whoever it is, it’s a different lad every different day in fairness to them, but they just keep getting there.
“The lads came on and they all made a big impact that way as well – an absolute dream for them.
Thurles CBS captain Robbie Ryan told Tipp FM Sport that there were leaders all over the field.
“I can’t put it into words how amazing I feel and how every single member of the team feels. You know we thought we were dead in the water – well I suppose everyone else thought we were dead in the water. We rattled off a few scores there and we knew we were still well in with a shout of winning.
“Some of the lads that stepped up there got unbelievable scores and it just sums us up as a team.”
