Tipperary were beaten by Cork in Sunday’s National Hurling League final.
Three first half goals saw the rebels ease to a ten point win in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on a full-time score line of 3-24 to 0-23.
It’s first time Cork have won the national hurling league since 1998 while the Premier’s wait for a first title since 2008 goes on.
Speaking after the game, Tipp manager Liam Cahill said Cork were deserving winners on the day and are deserving of the favourites tag for the All Ireland.
“Goals win matches and they hit us three goal opportunities and converted them and it was an uphill task after that really to be honest. But that’s what good teams do and this Cork team are really after building momentum over the last two years under Pat Ryan and transitioning all these underage success through and they look like real formidable opponents now and a real formidable team to go on and go after Munster and the All Ireland. I suppose they’re not favourites to win the All Ireland for nothing.”
