Tipperary’s National Football League campaign came to a disappointing end yesterday.
The Premier were beaten by Wicklow in Clonmel on a full-time score of 0-21 to 0-12.
The visitors had midfielder Jack Kirwin sent off after just 12 minutes.
Tipp finish their Division Four campaign on five points but suffered defeat in their final four games.
Speaking after the final whistle, manager Philly Ryan admitted Tipp didn’t make the most of their numerical advantage.
“We played with an extra man for a lot of the game. I’ll be straight about this I felt during the game that after the sending off a lot of the marginal decisions went with Wicklow. I’m not being critical of the officiating but I just felt that’s the way it went. I felt there were certain tackles that we put in that became frees.
“That’s not getting away from the fact that we weren’t good on the day. We came with a plan – being honest as well we were probably a bit tired after the Wexford game last week. A lot of the lads put a lot of energy into that game.
“Look, I can make all the excuses I want we just didn’t hit the marks I would like to hit today.”
