There was disappointment for Tipp in their final round-robin game of the Munster U20 Football Championship last night.
An injury time equaliser for Cork means the Rebels progress to the final and Tipp bow out of the competition.
The Premier County went into the game knowing victory would see them through but a controversial free saw Cork draw level on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-14.
The share of the spoils in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last night saw Cork and Tipp finish level on three points apiece at the end of the Round Robin series but the Rebels’ superior score difference of -1 against -7 sees them through to the final.
Tipp manager Niall Fitzgerald admitted they had the opportunity to win.
“We’re very disappointed obviously. I suppose we didn’t feel it was a heroic effort as such because we really had confidence coming down here that we could beat Cork – that we were as good if not better than them. I still believe that going away there today because…look there was a few decisions – and I suppose we won’t get into it but it was bad – and we paid the price.”
Kerry will face Cork in the final following the Kingdoms 3-23 to 11 point win over Clare in Tralee.
