Adapting to the new Gaelic football rules is both ‘an extreme challenge’ and ‘exciting’.
That’s according to Tipperary under 20 football manager Niall Fitzgerald who’s been giving his opinion on the changes to football.
A two-point shot, having at least three players in the opposition half and changes to both the goalkeeper’s involvement in general play and kickouts are among the changes to the game.
Speaking on Extra-Time, Niall Fitzgerald says everyone’s in the same boat trying adapt.
“It’s definitely an extreme challenge but on top of that it’s an exciting time to be involved in coaching Gaelic football in terms of trying to adapt and trying to find ways to make rules suit yourself and develop different styles of play and systems to suit the new rules.
“It is very challenging for coaches, players and referees.
“What I have seen in any challenge game that we’ve played is that everybody is in the same boat and everyone is working together to try and help get there.”
