There was success for the Tipperary Senior Camogie team against Kilkenny yesterday.
Denis Kelly’s side needed extra time to see off the Cats in their quarter-final tie in Croke Park on a final score of 1-22 to 0-19.
Lorrha’s Clodagh McIntyre with the goal while Shannon Rovers goalkeeper Laura Leenane saved a penalty in extra time.
Manager Denis Kelly said they knew Kilkenny would bring great intensity to the game.
“They threw a spanner in the works I suppose with a sweeper as well and we struggled a bit to deal with that in the first half. But I think once we got to terms with it we dealt fairly well. Just needed a few more scores on the board. But look the girls showed huge character, commitment and a bit of resilience there as well between the penalty, Mairead coming across. There was loads of these small little wins that we had during the game – as the lads said we were lucky that the ref blew that one back – but look you need a bit of luck at times. We’ve been on the other side of it long enough but thankfully we got the rub of the green.
The Premier will take on Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday July 26th in UPMC Nowlan Park.
