The prospects for Tipperary ladies football is looking good for the future according to a Tipp selector.

The Premier retained their senior status over the wekeend, defeating Laois in their relegation semi-final.

The win ends what’s been a competitive championship campaign for Tipp which saw them draw with Armagh and lose to Meath by three points in the group stages.

Speaking on Extra-Time, Tipp selector Tony Smith says they can take positives from the year:

“There’s a lot of young players on that team and if you look at it, Cork beat us by a point and Armagh drew with us and both of them are in the All-Ireland semi-finals and they could actually meet in the All-Ireland final.

“That’s very encouraging from our point of view.

“The club championship is starting next week in Tipp and you’re all the time hoping that there will be players that stand up and come forward and that the panel will improve year on year and if we can get there at all I think the prospects are looking really good for the future.”
