Canada's Tristen Chernove took gold – 19 seconds clear of Lynch – with the bronze going to Spain's Maurice Far Eckhard Tio.

Tipperary's Peter Ryan makes his Paralympic cycling debut today.

The Upperchurch man and his co-pilot Marcin Mizgajski will compete in the men's B road time trial at around 5.30pm.

The 26-year-old thought he'd missed out on a place in Rio but got a late call-up when Russia was banned from the games.

His first cousin Sean Purcell says getting to compete in Brazil is a great achievement.

Meanwhile, Waterford based Damien Vereker will be partnered by Carrick on Suir's Sean Hahessy – they start their effort at 5.35.
