An elbow injury has caused a premature end to the career of Leinster lock Mike McCarthy.
The 19-times capped Ireland international was due to move to French side Narbonne in the off-season.
But in a statement last night, McCarthy says the injury – picked up in training – has seen him retire on medical advice.
